Why are multinational companies bypassing Maharashtra despite Mumbai's global status?

Mumbai, Jan 18 (UNI) At a time when multinational and foreign companies are increasingly choosing Karnataka and Gujarat for their business expansion, why is Maharashtra being overlooked, despite Mumbai being recognised as a global financial hub, asked the Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar faction) MLA Rohit Pawar in a social media post on Sunday.
He posed the question raising concerns over foreign investments in Maharshtra on a day when Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Industries Minister Uday Samant departed for Davos to attend the World Economic Forum's annual meeting after successfully putting the municipal corporation elections in the state behind them with a clear mandate.
Highlighting recent corporate decisions, Pawar pointed out that global entertainment giant Disney and cybersecurity and technology major Honeywell have both chosen Bengaluru's Bellandur area for their India expansion. Disney has leased 174,000 square feet of office space in Bellandur, while Honeywell has taken 400,000 square feet of office space on a seven-year lease.
