Western Uttar Pradesh reels under severe cold wave, frost expected

Lucknow, Jan 14 (UNI) The intense cold wave conditions continue to create havoc for the people, particularly in western Uttar Pradesh, where the minimum temperature has dipped to around 2 degrees Celsius.
Muzaffarnagar recorded a minimum temperature of 2.1 degrees Celsius, making it the coldest district in the state on Tuesday. Meerut followed closely behind with a temperature of 2.9 degrees Celsius.
According to the Meteorological Department, after the passage of the Western Disturbance, the wind direction has changed again to northwesterly direction. This has resulted in a 2- 4 degree Celsius drop in day and night temperatures in most parts of the state over the past 48 hours. Lucknow, the capital, recorded its lowest temperature of the season at 5.6 degrees Celsius.
