Maha: Panvel-Karjat double rail line nears completion, local train services likely by Diwali

Mumbai, Sep 22 (UNI) Commuters in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region are likely to get another suburban rail route soon, with local train services between Panvel and Karjat expected to commence around Diwali, subject to the mandatory safety inspection and approval. The 29.6-km Panvel-Karjat double-line project has reached the final stage, with nearly 99 per cent of the work completed. Railway authorities have begun preparations to introduce passenger services on the new corridor.
