Mumbai, Oct 4 (UNI) Intensifying the political battleground for the upcoming Maharashtra Legislative Council elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has officially announced its candidates for three key graduate and teachers' constituencies.
Following high-level consultations in New Delhi led by State BJP Chief Ravindra Chavan and national leadership, the party finalized its lineup, setting the stage for a fierce electoral contest. In a major twist, the party bypassed long-time frontrunner Sharad Lad for the Pune Graduates' constituency, opting instead for Dr. Smita Yogesh Jadhav in a classic tactical shuffle.
Meanwhile, the party retained its stronghold in the Nagpur Graduates' constituency by re-nominating former MLA Sudhakar Kohale, superseding alternate hopefuls. For the Pune Teachers' constituency, Kaustubh Gawde secured the ticket following strong backing from senior cabinet ministers.
