Maha: 15,891 killed in road accidents in 2.5 years, reveals RTI

Nagpur, Sep 30 (UNI) A total of 15,891 people were killed in road accidents on national highways over the past two-and-a-half years, highlighting the serious road safety challenge, according to information obtained under the Right to Information (RTI) Act. The RTI data revealed that overspeeding continues to be a major factor making highways increasingly dangerous for commuters. According to the information, 5,812 people were killed in 11,285 accidents on national highways in 2024. In 2025, the death toll rose to 5,941 in 11,381 accidents.
