Wednesday Season 2 review: Darker, sharper, and more thrilling than ever

New Delhi, Aug 8 (UNI) Wednesday Season 2 has returned to Netflix with a darker, sharper edge, pulling viewers deeper into the macabre world of ‘Wednesday Addams’.
The first four episodes are now streaming on Netflix.
According to actress Jenna Ortega, who plays the title role, the big inspiration for the show is the1964 film The Masque of the Red Death, which was adapted from a short story by Edgar Allan Poe.
During a recent interview with Vanity Fair, Ortega said: “I think the feeling that we’re going through is a little bit more horror-inspired. Not to say that suddenly we’re the goriest show of all time. She (Wednesday Addams) is a little bit of a jump scare herself,” said Jenna Ortega.
Wednesday's reluctant hero status is put to the test as she navigates new challenges at Nevermore Academy - her psychic powers are waning, a mysterious killer crow case emerges, and a sinister stalker is on the loose. The dark atmosphere and witty humor remain, but the stakes have never been higher.
The season also boasts of surprise appearances from Joanna Lumley, Billie Piper, Steve Buscemi, and even Lady Gaga, who takes on the mysterious role of Professor Rosaline Rotwood in Part 2.
The mid-season finale leaves fans reeling, ending with Wednesday lying comatose, her powers locked away, and several fates hanging in the balance. The cliffhanger has sparked intense speculation ahead of Part 2’s release on September 3.
Critics have praised the season for its witty gothic style and richer storytelling.
The next part of season 2 will be released on September 3.
