Water conservation officer, clerk arrested for accepting Rs 8.53 lakh bribe

Aurangabad (Maharashtra), Feb 6 (UNI) A water conservation officer and A clerk of Sub Divisional Water Conservation Corporation of Aurangabad were arrested on Monday by the Anti-Corruption Bureau Jalna unit in Maharashtra's Aurangabad while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 8,53,000 from the owner of a construction company.According to ACB sources, one of the accused Rushikesh Pralhadrao Deshmukh (34), is the sub-divisional water conservation officer of Vaijapur, presently handling the charge of the sub-divisional water conservation office of Aurangabad. the other accused is a clerk Bhausaheb Dadarao Gore.They said that the Parbhani-based construction company had been awarded the contract of constructing a KT weir at Gavali-Pivali in the Parbhani district and another construction work at Govidpur in the same district.
The two accused allegedly demanded Rs 8.53 lakhs as bribe from the complainant for issuing payment for the two projects totaling Rs 1.37 crore.
The complainant approched the ACB Jalna office and lodged a complaint. The ACB laid a trap and caught Deshmukh red-handed while accepting the bribe money from the complainant in a car. His associate Gore was also nabbed.
