Vizag: GVMC Prepares Draft Proposal to Reorganise City into 120 Wards

Visakhapatnam, May 17 (UNI) Ketan Garg, Commissioner of the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC), on Sunday announced that a draft proposal has been prepared for the reorganisation of the existing 98 wards within GVMC limits into 120 wards.
In a press release , the Commissioner stated that the proposal was prepared in accordance with the provisions of the Andhra Pradesh Municipal Corporation (Division of Wards) Rules, 1996, issued through G.O.Ms.No.570 dated November 6, 1996, along with subsequent amendments and applicable regulations.
As part of the proposed restructuring, the civic body plans to expand the existing ward structure from 98 to 120 wards to accommodate administrative and urban governance requirements within the rapidly growing city limits of Visakhapatnam.
