Viyash Scientific to acquire Italy’s BioForLife for Rs ₹188 Cr Strengthening Global Pet Care Business

Hyderabad, June 8 (UNI) Hyderabad-based Viyash Scientific Limited, through its wholly owned subsidiary Alivira Animal Health Limited, has signed a binding agreement to acquire a 100 per cent stake in BioForLife (BFL), a leading pet care company headquartered in Milan.
The acquisition, valued at Rs ₹188 crore in cash, is expected to be completed during the second quarter of FY27, the company announced today.
The transaction marks a significant milestone in Viyash Scientific’s strategy to expand its footprint in the rapidly growing global Companion Animal Health Generics market.
The acquisition will strengthen Alivira’s companion animal health business globally and enhance its presence in the European pet care sector.
Italy is among Europe’s five largest animal health markets, with companion animal care emerging as one of its fastest-growing segments, driven by increasing pet ownership, pet humanisation trends and higher spending on preventive and specialised veterinary care.
BioForLife specializes in the development, commercialization and distribution of pet care products.
The company has built a strong portfolio spanning nutritional supplements, pharmaceuticals and rapid diagnostic tests, while also expanding into high-growth segments such as dermatology and ophthalmology.
With an established sales network reaching more than 80 per cent of veterinary clinics across Italy, BioForLife provides strong market access and customer relationships that are expected to support future growth initiatives.
The acquisition will provide Viyash Scientific, headquartered in Jubilee Hills, with a platform to introduce products from Alivira’s development pipeline into the Italian market.
At the same time, it will create opportunities to expand BioForLife’s product range across Alivira’s operations in Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Latin America.
Commenting on the development, Dr. Haribabu Bodeputi, Managing Director and Group CEO of Viyash Scientific Limited, said the acquisition is an important step toward building a leading global companion animal health business.
He noted that BioForLife offers an established platform in one of Europe’s most attractive pet care markets and strengthens the company’s regional presence. According to him, combining BioForLife’s commercial reach with Alivira’s product development capabilities will help accelerate growth, broaden the companion animal health portfolio and create greater value for veterinarians, pet owners and business partners.
Dr. Bodeputi also said the company sees significant opportunities to introduce innovative products into India and other international markets through its global network, adding that the investment reflects Viyash Scientific’s commitment to sustainable growth, strategic expansion and long-term value creation.
The acquisition will also strengthen Alivira’s leadership team, with BioForLife’s existing executives expected to continue managing business operations while driving new growth initiatives.
The transaction builds on Alivira’s track record of international expansion, having successfully acquired and integrated multiple animal health companies across Europe, Latin America and Asia over the past decade.
