Vietnam Communist Party chief passes at 80

Hanoi, July 19 (UNI) Nguyen Phu Trong, the general secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee, has died at the age of 80, the VNA news agency reported on Friday, citing the board responsible for the health and care of senior officials.
Trong reportedly died at Central Military Hospital 108 after a prolonged battle with severe illness.
The Central Committee of the Communist Party of China offered its "deepest and most sincere condolences to the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the Vietnamese government and the Vietnamese people."
