Veteran social reformer Anna Hazare gifted T-55 ‘Bhim’ battle tank by Indian Army

Ralegan Siddhi, Jun 11 (UNI) In a rare gesture of recognition, veteran social reformer and former army serviceman Anna Hazare has been presented with a T-55 battle tank, popularly known as ‘Bhim’, by the Indian Army and the Defence establishment at his native village, Ralegan Siddhi, in Maharashtra.
The battle tank was formally handed over in acknowledgment of Hazare’s distinguished service in the armed forces and his decades-long contribution to social development and nation-building. The symbolic gift reflects the Army’s respect for his dedication both as a soldier and as a transformative social leader.
Hazare served in the Indian Army before dedicating his life to rural development and social reform. His efforts in transforming Ralegan Siddhi into a model village through water conservation, watershed management, afforestation, and community participation have earned national and international recognition.
