Venugopal writes to Jaishankar seeking release of Indians trapped in Myanmar

Thiruvananthapuram, July 11 (UNI) AICC General Secretary and Lok Sabha member KC Venugopal has sought the urgent intervention of the Ministry of External Affairs Ministry to secure the release of 44 Indians, who have fallen victim to human trafficking rackets in Myanmar.
The 44 Indian nationals also include five citizens of Kerala.Venugopal said that the victims were subjected to brutal physical assaults, and their phones, passports, and other belongings were confiscated, cutting them off from the outside world.
The victims are reportedly being held under hazardous conditions by the racketeers in Dongmei Park, Myanmar, leaving their families in deep distress. One of the victims, Mashood Ali from Padanna at Kasaragod in Kerala, had lodged a complaint with the Indian Embassy 10 days ago, but no action has reportedly been taken, Venugopal noted in a letter to External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar.
