Vanlalvena inspects BRO border road projects along Mizoram–Myanmar Frontier

Aizawl, Jan 18 (UNI) Mizoram’s lone Rajya Sabha member K Vanlalvena inspected the Thingsai–Bualpui–Saisihchhuah–Pangkhua–Sangau (TBSPS) border road along the Indo-Myanmar frontier, which is being constructed by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO), an aide said on Sunday.
During the two day visit which ended on Friday, Vanlalvena said construction of the Saisihchhuah–Pangkhua stretch had remained stalled between 2021 and 2023, with the BRO citing non-payment of compensation to landowners as the reason. As a result of the prolonged halt in work, an allocation of Rs. 66 crore sanctioned by the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) was subsequently withdrawn.
The MP said that following sustained representations and pressure from his side, the Ministry of Defence directed the resumption of the road construction from the latter part of 2024.
