Vandalism at BDO office in Chakulia over SIR Protest, IC injured

Kolkata, Jan 15 (UNI) A day after violence was reported at the BDO office in Farakka, a similar incident unfolded in Chakulia of North Dinajpur in West Bengal on Thursday, allegedly over protests against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral roll.
Protesters allegedly vandalised the Chakulia BDO office and set parts of it on fire, prompting strong action from the Election Commission.
According to police sources, the protesters also blocked a state highway in the Kahata area of Chakulia on Thursday morning, disrupting traffic and triggering severe congestion.
