US envoy Waltz ‘confident’ Iran agreement will be reached today, cites outstanding issues

Washington, June 14 (UNI)US Ambassador to the UN Mike Waltz said he is “confident” that an agreement with Iran could be signed today, but avoided providing specifics, noting that detailed terms would be addressed later. Speaking on ABC’s “This Week,” Waltz said he would defer to the White House on the final details and timing, adding that negotiations with Iran remain difficult due to internal coordination challenges in Tehran.
“I’m confident, the team is confident,” he said, stressing that the final announcement would come from senior US leadership. He added that while progress is being made, the administration does not want to “get ahead” of the president or vice president, CNN reported.
Waltz also offered limited insight into the draft understanding, referring to potential sanctions relief tied to compliance and a verification mechanism for Iran’s nuclear facilities.
