US authorities investigating suspicious package near White House

Washington, Aug 10 (UNI) US emergency vehicles arrived at the White House and blocked off multiple entrances while they investigated a suspicious package nearby, a US Secret Service spokesperson said in a statement to Sputnik.
"It is a routine closure to investigate a suspicious item," the spokesperson said on Friday regarding the emergency.
The spokesperson added that an update will be provided if they discover a public safety concern.
No high-level US officials are at the White House, President Joe Biden is in Delaware and Vice President Kamala Harris is in Arizona.
