US Air Force pilots who bombed Iran's Fordow nuclear base call strike 'one of the most consequential raids' ever

Washington, Oct 18 (UNI) The US Air Force pilots, who carried out the June 22 strikes at Iran's Fordow nuclear facility, termed the bombing run "one of the most consequential raids that we've executed," and said stealth was the "key" element of the operation, carried out via B-2 stealth bombers.
Col. Josh Wiitala, commander of the 509th Bomb Wing, based out of Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri, and harbouring roughly over 20 of the aircraft, told CBS News "I'll tell you, the biggest moment of my career, not just as a commander, is when I knew our guys were safe."
"There's a lot of long-range aircraft out there. There are numerous aircraft that have a high payload. There are also other stealth aircraft out there. But the only one that combines all three is the B-2," he added, emphasising on both the prowess and importance of his aircraft.

Berlin, Dec 12 (UNI) Germany has accused Russia of carrying out a cyber-attack on its air traffic control authority, and attempting to interfere in the country's federal elections last year, while proceeding to summon the Russian ambassador in protest over the alleged acts.
A German Foreign Ministry spokesman said Berlin now possessed sufficient evidence linking Moscow to the August 2024 cyber-attack on German Air Safety.
