UP: Undertrial commits suicide inside Pilibhit jail

Pilibhit (UP), Feb 20 (UNI) An undertrial accused of rape hanged himself and committed suicide inside the Pilibhit district jail on Tuesday, police sources said here.
Police sources said that a case of rape and Pocso Act was lodged against Sukhvinder, a resident of Simrai village under Puranpur police station, in the year 2016. "The accused was arrested and was released on bail in 2020. On February 7 he was again sent to jail on the orders of the court," they said.
Police sources said that on Tuesday afternoon Sukhvinder went to the toilet and did not show up till late. "When the jail guards peeped inside the toilet they found Sukhvider's body hanging from the ventilator. The jail doctors were informed who declared him dead," they said.
