UP to set up more food processing units in rural areas: Dy CM Maurya

Lucknow, Aug 2 (UNI) The Department of Horticulture and Food Processing in Uttar Pradesh is making significant strides in boosting the food processing industry across the state. Several schemes are currently being implemented to promote industrial development, technological advancement, and exports in the food sector.
Making the above claim here this evening, Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya said that the state government's goal is to set up more food processing units in rural areas, to ensure better prices for farmers, generate employment for youth, and increase state revenue through exports. This is seen as a critical step toward establishing Uttar Pradesh as an “export-oriented state” in the field of food processing, he said.
The state is witnessing a continuous inflow of investment proposals, and formal processes for these are being expedited. A major achievement recently emerged from Varanasi, where 34,000 kilograms of biscuits were exported to Dubai, a strong indicator of the growing global demand for products manufactured in Uttar Pradesh and a motivating example for local entrepreneurs, Maurya highlighted.
