UP: Teacher found dead in Barabanki school; family alleges harassment

Barabanki, Jan 17 (UNI) A woman teacher was found dead today at a government school in Barabanki district, triggering shock across the Education department.
In Barabanki’s Harakh development block, a 40-year-old assistant teacher, Uma Verma, died by suicide at the Composite School in Udavapur. Her body was found hanging in the headmaster’s room today. Following the incident, police from Satrikh police station took the body into custody and sent it for post-mortem examination.
Uma Verma, a resident of Jalalpur village, was a mother of two. Her husband, Rishi Verma, is also an assistant teacher posted at a primary school in Siddhaur block. He alleged that his wife had been mentally harassed by the school staff for the past two and a half years.
