UP: Six die, 3 injured as truck hits auto in Hardoi

Hardoi (UP), May 15 (UNI) Six persons were killed and three others were injured when an auto rickshaw was hit by a truck in the Sandila area of Hardoi district in Uttar Pradesh on Thursday, police sources said here.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken cognisance of the road accident in Hardoi district and expressed condolences to the bereaved families of the deceased. He has directed the officials to immediately reach the spot and expedite the relief work and ensure proper treatment of the injured.
Police sources said that Ranjit, a resident of Auramou village in Kasimpur, used to drive the CNG auto. "The incident took place on Thursday morning; Ranjit was going to Sandila from Kasimpur with passengers. There were 10 passengers in the auto," they said.
Police sources said that on the way, near Hardalmau village on the Sandila-Bangarmau road, the auto collided with a speeding truck coming from the front. "The collision was so severe that the auto overturned several times and was shattered into pieces," they said.
Police sources said apart from auto driver Ranjit, six people, including Arvind, Ankit and Phool Jahan, died in the accident. "Three people were seriously injured. After the incident, the driver fled with the truck," they said.
Police sources said that the police reached the spot on information and admitted the injured to Sandila CHC. "The auto was overloaded. The driver lost control on seeing a truck coming from the front due to high speed. A head-on collision resulted in a major accident," they said.
