UP gangster Md. Sohrab arrested in Kolkata after violating parole

Kolkata, Nov 19 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh gangster Mohammad Sohrab, who had violated parole following his release from Tihar Jail, was arrested in Kolkata in a joint operation by the Delhi Police and the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF), officials said.
The gangster, accused in multiple criminal cases including murders in UP and other states, was apprehended from a hideout on Ripon Street, under the Park Street police station, where he had reportedly been staying since last night.
Sohrab had been absconding since late June after jumping parole. Police said he had been living at Ripon Street and was allegedly working as an app-based delivery rider for the past four months. Based on specific input, a team from Delhi Police and the UP ATS reached Kolkata and arrested him from his temporary accommodation.

Water seepage noticed at Jagannath Temple’s Meghanad Prachir

Puri, Dec. 14 (UNI) Chief Administrator of the Sri Jagannath Temple, Arabind Padhee, has drawn the attention of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) to the seepage of water through the Meghnad Prachir of the 12th-century temple. It has been observed that water from the Anand Bazaar side of the temple has been percolating through the stone joints of the Prachir, raising concerns over the structure’s safety.
