UP: Dacoit gets lifer in kidnapping and murder case

Shahjahanpur (UP), Mar 19 (UNI) Dreaded dacoit Devendra Fauji was sentenced to life imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 30,000 by a Shahjahanpur court here in Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday in a kidnapping and murder case, a prosecution counsel said here.
District Government Counsel Sanjeev Singh said that on October 13, 1999, Devendra Fauji along with his fellow dacoits, kidnapped Bachan Pal Singh from Mohaniya village under Madanpur police station for ransom. "When the ransom was not received, the dacoits killed Bachan Pal. His skeleton was found in a pit two months later," he said.
He said that the case was on trial in the Additional Sessions Court. "On Wednesday the court of Additional Sessions Judge Krishna Leela Yadav sentenced dacoit Devendra Fauji to life imprisonment. He has also imposed a fine of Rs 30,000 on him. After being convicted, Devendra Fauji has been sent to jail," he said.
