Mainpuri (UP), Apr 29 (UNI) A criminal carrying a reward of Rs 1 lakh on his arrest was killed in an encounter between the police and the Special Task Force (STF) in the Elao area in Mainpuri district here in Uttar Pradesh, police sources said here.
Police sources said that Jitendra, alias Jeetu, a resident of Hathras, was killed in an encounter with the district police and the STF at Tarapur Cut under the Elao police station area late on Monday night.
"A pistol and cartridges along with a bike have been recovered from Jitendra," they said.
Police sources said that Jeetu, a resident of Paharpur village, was the main accused in the murder of ration dealer Yogesh Upadhyay on June 13, 2024, in a rivalry over the panchayat election.
"He had been absconding since then, after which the police announced a reward of Rs 1 lakh on him. Hathras police has been informed," they said.
