UP: 10 Rohangiyas booked for living illegally in Unnao

Unnao (UP), May 23 (UNI) A case has been lodged against 10 persons under the Foreigners Act following information of Rohingya citizens living in huts near the banks of Ganga in Gangaghat area of Unnao district here in Uttar Pradesh, police said here on Friday.
Gangaghat police station in-charge Pramod Mishra said that the case has been registered on the complaint of Balughat outpost in-charge Gajendra Singh. "During the investigation, the families residing illegally in Shakti Nagar and Manohar Nagar localities of the region, were confirmed on the basis of their accent," he said.
He said that during interrogation, valid documents were sought from these family members, but they failed to produce such documents. "After this, a case was registered against 10 Rohingya citizens on the complaint of Balughat outpost in-charge Gajendra Singh," he said.

Post Art 370 normalcy claims a myth: Mirwaiz

Srinagar, June 13 (UNI) Kashmir’s chief cleric and Hurriyat Conference chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Friday said the narrative of normalcy in Jammu and Kashmir following the abrogation of Article 370 is a “myth.”

He claimed that “oppressive measures” remain firmly in place and there is “no political or administrative space available to the people of Jammu and Kashmir.”

Addressing the Friday congregational prayers at historic Jamia Masjid in old Srinagar Mirwaiz asked Lt Governor Manoj Sinha, who is the in charge of the law and order in J&K, as to why the Eid-ul-Adha prayers were not allowed at the Eidgah ground and Jamia Masjid in Srinagar. The decision to disallow Eid prayers at Jamia had triggered a backlash from many, including Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.
