UoH, Census Directorate sign MoU for advanced micro-data research facility

Hyderabad, Mar 23 (UNI) The University of Hyderabad (UoH) and the Directorate of Census Operations (DCO), Telangana, Ministry of Home Affairs, on Monday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish an advanced workstation for research on Census sample micro-data at the university’s School of Economics.
The facility, inaugurated in the presence of senior university officials and government representatives, aims to strengthen data-driven research and policy analysis by providing secure access to anonymised, record-level census data for qualified researchers.
The workstation will enable in-depth demographic studies, customised cross-tabulation of socio-economic data, and advanced statistical modelling to support regional and national development strategies. Officials said the facility will not be limited to university scholars but will be accessible to all eligible researchers, subject to approval by a joint steering committee comprising members from UoH and the Census Directorate.

Lightning strike kills four students, injures three in Kerala’s Malappuram

Kozhikode, May 12 (UNI) Four students died after being struck by lightning, while three others were injured, at Mankada in Kerala’s Malappuram district.
The deceased have been identified as Rahees (20), Vahas (18), Siad (18) and Fahad (19), all natives of Vellila.
Three others were injured and are currently undergoing treatment at the Manjeri Medical College Hospital.
