Unruly groups attempt to attack Meghalaya CM’s residence

Shillong, Mar 11 (UNI) Unruly groups attempted to attack the residence of Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma in Tura on Wednesday, but he continued to remain in his house along with his family members, saying he was not afraid.
“Dear friends, earlier I received information that different groups and several individuals were heading towards my residence with the intention of burning my house and attacking my family. Based on this information, and in accordance with my security protocol, I was advised to move to another place. However, I did not leave and I did not agree to relocate, because I am not afraid,” Sangma asserted.
“Today, my life is not in anyone’s hands except in the hands of our Lord. I am also an A•chik (Garo), and the blood of P.A. Sangma runs in me. I draw courage from his legacy. I love my community deeply, and I am working for the cause of our people with the utmost integrity and honesty,” he said.

Meghalaya cabinet recognises Khasi and Garo as official languages

Shillong, Apr 16 (UNI) Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Thursday said that the State Cabinet has approved the Meghalaya Official Languages Ordinance, 2026, recognising Khasi and Garo as official languages alongside English, and has decided to repeal the Meghalaya State Language Act, 2005.
