Union Ports Minister flags off gas carrier vessel Shivalik at Visakhapatnam Port

Visakhapatnam, Oct 6 (UNI) union Ports Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Monday remarked that the induction of ‘Shivalik’ under the Indian flag is a proud moment for the nation and a testament to India’s growing strength in global shipping and energy trade.
The ‘Shivalik’, inducted under the Indian flag by the Shipping Corporation of India (SCI) on September 10, represents a significant leap in India’s maritime and energy logistics capability.
Addressing the gaterhing after flagging off the Large Gas Carrier (VLGC) vessel “Shivalik” during its maiden call at Visakhapatnam Port here, Sonowal congratulated the SCI team and lauded Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA) for facilitating the vessel’s smooth handling during its inaugural LPG consignment operation.
He highlighted that this milestone is in perfect alignment with the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat and Maritime India Vision 2030, reinforcing India’s pursuit of self-reliance, indigenous ownership, and global competitiveness in the maritime sector.
Speaking on the occasion, Visakhapatnam Parliament Member Sri Bharat, reiterated the Prime Minister’s vision of ensuring door-to-door gas delivery across India, noting that such initiatives bring the nation closer to achieving universal energy accessibility.
Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA) Dr. M. Angamuthu, commended SCI for its progressive initiative and reaffirmed VPA’s commitment to providing all possible support.
He assured that the Port will work closely with the Government of Andhra Pradesh to transform Visakhapatnam into a leading energy logistics hub on the eastern coast.
The union Minister also interacted with the officers and crew of ‘Shivalik’, appreciating their contribution to India’s maritime excellence.
He further commended VPA’s efforts in modernizing port infrastructure and enhancing operational efficiency to support the nation’s expanding energy and logistics demands.
Viskhapatnam South MLA Vamsikrishna Srinivasa Yadav, senior officials from the Ministry of Ports, Shipping & Waterways, Shipping Corporation of India, and Visakhapatnam Port Authority were present during the ceremony.

In push to renewable energy, Telangana to have 6,000 EV charging stations by 2030

Hyderabad, Nov 6 (UNI) The Telangana State Renewable Energy Development Corporation Ltd (TGREDCO) on Thursday said that it aims to scale up the initiative with 6,000 EV charging stations by 2030 and 12,000 by 2035, underpinned by Telangana's EV & Energy Storage Policy (2020–2030) and Clean Energy Policy (2025).
Corporation Vice Chairman and Managing Director V. Anila said the program is also aligned with PM e-Drive and Telangana Mobility Valley, ensuring continued innovation and sustainability.
