Union DoNER Minister Scindia calls for expediting key projects

Imphal, Apr 17 (UNI) Union Minister for Communications and Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (MDoNER), Jyotiraditya M. Scindia presented a comprehensive review of the status of various projects currently underway in Manipur during a review meeting with Governor of Manipur, Ajay Kumar Bhalla, at Raj Bhavan, Imphal on Thursday.
Scindia highlighted several areas that require attention for the development of the state. The projects included handicrafts and handloom, sports, tourism, international trade, agriculture—particularly palm oil farming in the region, logistics, and the development of national highways. He also directed officials present at the meeting to accelerate the pace of key infrastructure projects such as universities, Manipur IT-SEZ, mental hospital, maternity and child hospital, etc.
Scindia along with Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla also chaired a meeting of the High-Level Task Force on Sports for the North Eastern Region. The Chief Minister of Mizoram, Deputy Chief Minister of Nagaland, the Additional Chief Secretary of Meghalaya, and Joint Secretary of the Department of Sports joined the meeting via video conferencing.

Manipur: Govt announces Rs 10L ex-gratia for jawan who died in Pak firing

Imphal, May 12 (UNI) The Manipur government has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 10 lakh to the next of kin of Constable (General Duty) Deepak Chingakham of the 7th Battalion, Border Security Force (BSF), who laid down his life following a drone attack launched from Pakistan at the Kharkhola Border Outpost (BOP) on May 10, under the Major Laishram Jyotin Singh Ashok Chakra (P) Scheme for martyrs and their families.
