UNESCO, Royal Enfield celebrates International ICH Day with Great Himalayan Exploration showcase at UN House

Mumbai, Oct 15 (UNI) In the lead up to International Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) Day on October 17, UN India, UNESCO and Royal Enfield came together to celebrate the living heritage of the Indian Himalayan region through the screening of ‘The Great Himalayan Exploration’ - a collaborative project dedicated to documenting and safeguarding the region’s rich cultural practices.
As defined by UNESCO, Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) encompasses the practices, expressions, knowledge and skills that communities, groups and sometimes individuals recognise as part of their cultural heritage.
Launched in 2022, The Great Himalayan Exploration has traversed 11 geographies - including Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Manipur, Tripura, Nagaland, Assam, North Bengal - documenting over 100 ICH practices and engaging with over 250 communities.
