Unemployed tourist guides sound alarm as proposal for new pipeline sparks concerns

New Delhi, Feb 9, (UNI) With foreign tourist arrivals into India showing a declining trend and and the existing pool of tourist guides in the industry not getting enough guiding jobs, the proposal in the union Budget to create a new skill pipeline has evoked sharp reactions from the tourist guides’ fraternity in the country.
It is learnt that the trade associations of tourist guides have already expressed their concerns regarding this to the Ministry of Tourism and in the recent meeting of the Departmental Standing Committee of Parliament for Transport, Tourism, and Culture. Presenting the annual budget for FY26-27, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman proposed “a pilot scheme for upskilling 10,000 guides at 20 iconic tourist sites through a standardized, high-quality 12-week training course in hybrid mode, in collaboration with an Indian Institute of Management.”

ED attaches properties worth Rs 26 86 cr in Sowbhagya Ispat Bank fraud case

New Delhi, Mar 6 (UNI) The Enforcement Directorate (ED), Hyderabad Zonal Office, on Friday said it has attached immovable properties worth Rs 26.86 crore in connection with a bank fraud case involving Sowbhagya Ispat India Pvt. Ltd. (SIIPL).
The attached properties include residential flats, a residential house, and open plots of land.
