Uncle and nephew drown in Beas river during Baisakhi celebrations in Kapurthala

Chandigarh, Apr 14 (UNI) A festive outing turned into a tragedy in Kapurthala on Tuesday as an uncle and his nephew drowned in the Beas river during a Baisakhi bathing ritual.
The incident occurred between the villages of Butala and Chakkoki Mand, where the duo had gone along with several other villagers to mark the auspicious occasion of Baisakhi with a holy dip.
The victims have been identified as 30-year-old Gurdev Singh and his 22-year-old nephew, Ramandeep Singh, both residents of Butala village. According to eyewitnesses, a tractor-trolley carrying a large group from the village, including women, had reached the riverbank in the afternoon.

Lucknow, May 9 (UNI) The Farmer Registry campaign being carried out in Uttar Pradesh to provide farmers with transparent and quick benefits of government schemes has started showing large-scale results.
Due to the active efforts of the Yogi Adityanath-led state government, more than 2.23 crore farmers have been registered so far, which is 77.43% of the target set by the Central Government.
The Farmer Registry campaign in the state was launched on November 5, 2024.
