UBL commissions new canning line at Nizam Brewery with Rs ₹90 crore investment

Hyderabad, Jul 17 (UNI) United Breweries Limited (UBL), part of the Heineken Company and one of India's leading brewers, today commissioned a new canning line at its Nizam Brewery in Telangana, enhancing its manufacturing capacity and strengthening its presence in the state’s growing beer market.
The new facility, set up as part of UBL’s Rs ₹90 crore investment announced in 2025, has begun production with the first trial run of Kingfisher Ultra cans.
The expansion will add 0.4 million hectolitres to the brewery’s annual capacity, increasing the total production capacity from 0.5 million hectolitres to 0.9 million hectoliters, the company said in a release here.
The newly commissioned line will cater primarily to UBL’s premium portfolio, including Kingfisher, Kingfisher Ultra and Heineken®, amid rising consumer preference for canned beer. The investment is aimed at supporting premiumisation, improving supply chain efficiency and meeting evolving market demand.
The company said the project was completed without affecting existing bottle production operations, through careful planning and coordinated execution.
The expansion also included value engineering measures such as reuse of existing infrastructure and operational innovations to reduce costs and accelerate completion.
UBL Managing Director and CEO Vivek Gupta said the commissioning marks an important step in strengthening the company’s manufacturing capabilities and serving changing consumer preferences.
“The investment reflects our confidence in the long-term growth of the beer category and our commitment to accelerating premiumisation through enhanced manufacturing capabilities. The new facility strengthens our supply chain, supports our premium portfolio and positions us for sustainable growth,” he added.
UBL said the expansion further strengthens its supply chain network in Telangana, one of India’s key beer markets, while reinforcing its strategy of investing in capacity enhancement, innovation and premium product offerings.
