Two toddlers die, 250 families homeless in major fire incident in Lucknow

Lucknow, April 16 (UNI) A devastating fire broke out on Wednesday in the Vikas Nagar area of Lucknow, claiming the lives of two young children and leaving nearly 250 families homeless, police said on Thursday.
According to police officials, the victims were daughters of Satish, a resident of Kashipurwa village in the Ramsanehi Ghat area of Barabanki district. The deceased have been identified as Shruti, aged around 2 years, and her 2-month-old infant sister. Both children were caught in the blaze and died on the spot.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Diksha Sharma stated that the identification process of affected families is ongoing. On Thursday morning, the site of the incident presented a grim picture, with only ashes and charred household belongings scattered across the area. Police have restricted access for safety reasons, but many families continue to search through the debris for any salvageable items.
