Two persons killed in fire in Kolkata

Kolkata, Apr 21 (UNI) Two persons were killed when a fire broke out at a store room on the third floor of a residential building in north Kolkata's Pathuriaghata midnight last night, fire brigade and police said on Monday.
The fire brigade personnel after dousing the flames retrieved the two unconscious bodies on the top floor of the dilapidated building and took them to the Calcutta Medical College and Hospital where the medics declared them brought dead this morning.The two victims were the priests by profession.
The fire brigade personnel said the two victims died of suffocation, also known as asphyxiation, after their attempt to go to the terrace failed as the rooftop door was locked.

Jowai, May 21 (UNI) Meghalaya has emerged as one of the leading states in healthcare investment, with over 8 per cent of the annual state budget—more than Rs. 1,000 crore—dedicated to the health sector, Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma said on Wednesday.
“The government is supporting not only state-run hospitals but also collaborating with church-run and non-profit hospitals,” he said after inaugurating the Hubert Rosario Road in Spein, Mookaswan, West Jaintia Hills district.
