Two Myanmar nationals killed in car crash on Samruddhi Expressway in Maharashtra

Washim, Oct 18 (UNI) Two tourists from Myanmar were killed and several others injured in a major road accident on the Samruddhi Expressway near Washim in Maharashtra in the early today, police said. The accident occurred near channel number 232, between Dhava and Jaulka villages, when the driver of a speeding car lost control and crashed into the central divider.
The vehicle, en route from Mumbai to Jagannath Puri, was carrying seven passengers, all foreign nationals from Myanmar visiting India for tourism. The deceased have been identified as Min Aug (33) and Min Chit Aug (13). One person sustained serious injuries, while four others suffered minor wounds.
All injured passengers were rushed to the Washim District General Hospital for treatment. According to preliminary investigations, the driver may have dozed off behind the wheel. Authorities suspect fatigue and high speed to be contributing factors in the crash. Police from the Jaulka station responded promptly to the incident and carried out an on-site investigation. Further inquiry is underway. The Balasaheb Thackeray Samruddhi Expressway, a high-speed corridor connecting Nagpur to Mumbai, has witnessed multiple accidents in recent times, prompting renewed concerns over driver safety and enforcement measures.
