Two fraudsters arrested in Rs 9 cr investment Scam

Bhubaneswar, July 10 (UNI) The Odisha Crime Branch has arrested two fraudsters in connection with a massive investment fraud involving more than Rs.9 crore.
According to official sources, one of the accused, Amrit Pal from Punjab, was arrested for his involvement in defrauding a a citizen of Rs.7.5 crore.
He was apprehended in Punjab, produced before the Sangrur Court, and brought to Odisha on transit remand and later forwarded to the court of the SDJM, Jeypore, under various provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Information Technology Act, 2000.

Bhubaneswar, Aug 11 (UNI) Environmental activists and people’s movement leaders on Tuesday launched a strong opposition to what they described as the Odisha government’s indiscriminate granting of bauxite mining leases, warning that large-scale mining in the Eastern Ghats could destroy forests, deplete water sources and threaten the livelihoods of thousands of tribal and rural families.

Odisha Court jails man for using bank account in cyber fraud

Bhubaneswar, Aug 11 (UNI) A JMFC court in Sambalpur district in Odisha has convicted a 32-year-old man for allowing his bank account to be used in a cyber fraud case and sentenced him to two years of rigorous imprisonment.

Patna, Aug 11 (UNI) Leader of the Opposition in Bihar Assembly Tejashwi Yadav has demanded immediate cancellation of the improper transfers of Urdu, Arabic and Persian teachers in government schools in Bihar, prompt payment of the pending salaries of teaching and non-teaching staff of aided madrasas and Sanskrit schools, and the posting of Urdu and Sanskrit teachers in every government school.
