Twenty-year jail term for POCSO convict in Hyderabad

Hyderabad, June 13 (UNI) A special court for POCSO cases in Hyderabad has sentenced a 19-year-old man to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment in a case involving the sexual assault of a minor girl.
The XII Additional Sessions Judge, Nampally, convicted the accused, Gummula Nagaraju, in a case registered by Gandhi Nagar Police Station under relevant sections of the IPC and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 16,000.
According to a police statement on Saturday, the case was registered in March 2019 following a complaint by the victim's family. The accused was found guilty of sexually exploiting the minor girl over a period of time and subjecting her to intimidation and abuse.
