TVK Founder Vijay sworn in as 13th TN CM: Announces new era of real secular social justice; 9 Cabinet Ministers also take oath

Chennai, May 10 (UNI) Heralding a major change and scripting a new chapter in Tamil Nadu politics, the fledgling Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) founder and actor-politician C Joseph Vijay was on Sunday sworn in as the 13th Chief Minister of the state, ending the nearly 60-year-long duopoly of the DMK and the AIADMK with a stunning performance at the hustings.
Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar administered the oath of Office and secrecy to Vijay, along with nine members of his first Cabinet, which included a woman, at an impressive ceremony held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Multi-purpose Indoor Stadium.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted Vijay for taking oath as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu and promised that the Centre would work with the State government in improving the lives of the people. In a social media post, Mr Modi wrote, "Congratulations to Thiru C Joseph Vijay on taking oath as Tamil Nadu Chief Minister. Best wishes for his tenure ahead".
