Trump threatens to invoke Insurrections Act as Minneapolis protests over ICE killing intensify, Democrats urge 'end to occupation'

Minneapolis, Jan 15 (UNI) US President Donald Trump on Thursday threatened to invoke the Insurrection Act, a rarely used federal law that would allow him to deploy troops domestically, as protests against Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) continued to roil Minneapolis following two shootings involving federal officers.
Trump's warning came a day after a federal officer shot a man in the leg during a confrontation in north Minneapolis. US officials said the officer was attacked with a shovel and a broom handle before opening fire, reports CBS News.
The incident further inflamed tensions already running high after an ICE officer fatally shot a 37-year-old woman, Renee Good, in the head a week earlier.
