Trump signs exec order to halt state-level AI regulations and empower federal challenge effort

Washington, Dec 12 (UNI) US President Donald Trump has signed an executive order seeking to halt any state laws that regulate or restrict artificial intelligence, and will establish a federal task force which will have the "sole responsibility" for challenging such measures.
At the signing ceremony on Thursday, Trump argued that differing state-level requirements would hinder investment and development, reports The Guardian.
"If they had to get 50 different approvals from 50 different states, you could forget it," he said, adding that AI companies were eager to "invest" in the US.
