Trump says Iranian nuclear programme is 'gonzo' post June strikes, says further damage can be avoided with a deal

Washington, Dec 12 (UNI) US President Donald Trump on Thursday remarked that Iran's nuclear programme was "gonzo," post the US Air Force strikes in the country on June 22, and urged Tehran to reach a deal over its nuclear programme if it wants to avoid further destruction, threatening the Islamic Republic with "obliteration" should it attempt to restart its uranium enrichment.
In one of his most extensive speeches in months concerning Iran, the US leader reportedly implied to a bilateral deadlock over the issue, indicating that all efforts to reach any agreement were now effectively stalled, with little room for resuming talks after Iran's 12-day war with Israel, later joined by the US, as per reports.
"The Atomic Energy Commission said it's like 'gonzo,' one person actually used the term obliterated, but Iran actually said that they probably can never go there again," he told reporters.
