Trekking, Safaris halted after Tiger attacks in Karnataka

Bengaluru, Nov 7 (UNI) In the wake of a series of tiger attacks in southern Karnataka, Forest Minister Eshwar B Khandre on Friday ordered an immediate suspension of trekking activities in forest zones prone to human-wildlife conflicts and directed the closure of safaris in Nagarhole and Bandipur Tiger Reserves until further notice.
The directive follows the death of 35-year-old Choudaiah Naik in a tiger attack near Hale Heggodilu village in the Moleyur range of Saragur taluk, Mysuru district, earlier on Friday.
Expressing deep sorrow over the incident, Khandre described the recent string of attacks as “deeply painful and alarming.”
