Transporting apples to markets is top priority: Shimla Deputy Commissioner

Shimla, Sep 6(UNI) With the apple season at its peak, the Shimla district administration has assured that restoring blocked roads for smooth transportation of the crop is being treated as a top priority. Continuous heavy rains have damaged highways and link roads across the district, creating hurdles for farmers in taking their produce to the markets.
Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap said that despite adverse weather conditions, the entire administrative machinery has been pressed into service.
“All Sub-Divisional Magistrates have been instructed to monitor restoration work in their respective jurisdictions. Field staff and machinery are working round the clock to ensure the movement of apple-laden vehicles is not disrupted,” he stated.
