Top Chinese officials meet the Indian, Pakistani envoys in Beijing amid India-Pak tensions

Beijing/Islamabad/New Delhi, May 14 (UNI) Top Chinese officials met with the Indian and Pakistani ambassadors separately in Beijing, in the aftermath of the ceasefire between New Delhi and Islamabad.
While the director general of the Chinese Foreign Ministry's Department of Asian Affairs Liu Jinsong met with Indian Ambassador to China Pradeep Kumar Rawat on Monday, Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong met with the Pakistani Ambassador Khalil Hashmi at the latter's request on Tuesday.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry said in a statement that during the meeting between Director General of the foreign ministry's Department of Asian Affairs Liu Jinsong with Indian Ambassador Pradeep Kumar Rawat, the two sides exchanged views on China-India relations and issues of common concern.
During the meeting between the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Sun Weidong with the Pakistani Ambassador Khalil Hashmi, the two sides exchanged views on China-Pakistan relations and the international and regional situation.
“Sun said that China welcomes and supports a full and lasting ceasefire between Pakistan and India, and advocates that the two sides resolve their differences through dialogue and consultation and jointly commit to maintaining regional peace and stability.
"China is willing to continue to play a constructive role in this regard,” he said, according to Global Times.
Hashmi expressed his appreciation for China's mediation efforts to promote the ceasefire.
