Top Arunachal CBOs’ body condemns alleged use of cash for votes

Itanagar, May 19 (UNI) The Arunachal Indigenous Tribes Forum (AITF), a conglomeration of all apex community-based organizations of indigenous tribes of Arunachal Pradesh, on Sunday expressed its resentment over the alleged rampant distribution of cash and other inducements to voters during the recently held general elections in the State.
The AITF, however, did not name any political party or any candidate or leaders indulged in the cash-for-vote practice, which is an ‘open secret’ here in Arunachal Pradesh.
“In the recently conducted General Elections in Arunachal Pradesh, the cash for vote and other gratifications was rampantly used to garner votes in the entire State,” said AITF president Dr Bengia Tolum in a statement. He lamented that this happened in spite of the ‘Clean Election Campaign-2024’ run by the AITF for the “better development of the State”.
