TN Minister reiterates Foxconn's Rs 15,000 crore investment in state

Chennai, Oct 15 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Industries Minister T R B Rajaa today reiterated that the Taiwanese electronics contract manufacturing company Foxconn will invest Rs 15,000 crore in the state.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Rajaa confirmed that Foxconn had on Monday committed to the Rs 15,000 crore investment, which is expected to create 14,000 jobs in Tamil Nadu.
Rajaa stated that the confirmation of this investment and employment opportunity came after “nearly one year’s labour.”
Without directly naming PMK leader Dr Anbumani Ramadoss, Rajaa criticised certain political leaders for attempting to jeopardise such job opportunities due to “political vengeance” whenever good developments occur for the state’s youth.
He added that in today's political scenario, it is very difficult to bring in investments to the state. Rajaa cautioned Ramadoss against issuing “childish statements” without understanding the geopolitical situation.
The statement comes after Dr Ramadoss today reportedly questioned the announcement, claiming Foxconn had not confirmed any such investment in Tamil Nadu.
On Monday, Guidance, the nodal agency for investment promotion and single window clearance in Tamil Nadu, had stated that the Rs 15,000 crore investment by Foxconn would create 14,000 skilled jobs, calling it a “game changer.” The agency added that the proposed investment will power the state's electronics and advanced manufacturing growth.
Guidance also announced that it will launch India's first Foxconn Desk to ensure fast-track approvals and seamless support for the project.
Chief Minister M K Stalin also met with Robert Wu, India Representative of Foxconn, and other officials at the state secretariat today. Stalin later posted on X: “This is the #DravidianModel in action. Thank you @HonHai_Foxconn for choosing Tamil Nadu and shaping the future with us. This marks another milestone in our journey to make Tamil Nadu the manufacturing and innovation hub of South Asia."
