Tilak Varma’s blitz, Jacks’ late fireworks seal MI victory

Dharamsala, May 14 (UNI) Tilak Varma and Will Jacks produced a breathtaking finishing assault as Mumbai Indians pulled off a thrilling six-wicket victory over Punjab Kings in a high-scoring Indian Premier League clash at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium here on Thursday.
Chasing a formidable target of 201, Mumbai Indians rode on Tilak Varma’s explosive unbeaten 75 off 33 balls and Will Jacks’ unbeaten 25 off 10 deliveries to reach 205 for four in 19.5 overs. The pair added an unbroken 56 runs off just 20 balls to snatch victory from a tense situation and strengthen Mumbai’s playoff push.
The match turned dramatically in the death overs when Mumbai hammered 22 runs off the 18th over bowled by Marco Jansen. Tilak unleashed a brutal counterattack, smashing two sixes and a boundary in the over while bringing up his fifty in only 25 balls.
