Three-Day international workshop on Climate and Disaster Risk Reduction concludes at CUHP–DDMA Platform

Dharamshala, Oct 17 (UNI) A three-day international training workshop on 'Climate Change, Disaster Prevention and Strategies: Strengthening Preparedness from Risk to Resilience against Natural and Anthropogenic Disasters' concluded successfully at Hotel Abode Chola, Dharamshala. The event was organized under the guidance of Prof. Sat Prakash Bansal, Vice-Chancellor, Central University of Himachal Pradesh (CUHP), in collaboration with the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) Kangra, with technical support from Aston University (UK) and National Dong Hwa University (Taiwan).
The workshop witnessed active participation from scientists, academicians, administrative officers, researchers, and representatives from NDRF and DDMA. Experts deliberated on various critical issues related to climate change and disaster management, including landslides, earthquakes, radiation emergencies, extreme rainfall and cloudbursts, waste management, and biological disasters. They discussed the causes, impacts, and effective management strategies for these challenges.
Inaugurating the workshop, CUHP Vice-Chancellor Prof. S.P. Bansal highlighted the global challenges posed by climate change and disasters and appreciated the initiatives of the university’s School of Earth and Environmental Sciences in this direction. Additional Deputy Commissioner Kangra, Shilpi Becta (HAS), congratulated the organizers and participants for the initiative and stressed the importance of inter-agency collaboration for effective disaster preparedness.
