The Manali-Leh route closed to vehicular traffic from Monday

Shimla, Dec 8 (UNI) Due to severe cold and snowfall in the high-altitude passes, traffic on the strategic Manali-Leh route will be completely closed for traffic from Monday.
The administration has deemed it unsafe to travel from Darcha to Leh due to slippery nature of the roads. Following a virtual meeting between the Lahaul-Spiti and Leh administrations, a decision was made to keep the route open for a limited period between November 21 and December 7.
During this period, tourists were only allowed to travel up to the Baralacha Pass. However, the advent of black ice on the route has increased the slipperiness significantly. Consequently, the administration has decided to close the route completely.
